A Hundred Million Miracles

I was on duty at the Maternity Hospital, not really doing much of anything. It was a sleepy hospital with only 2 outpatient checkups in 8 hours so I spent my oodles of free time watching movies on my laptop. First one I watched was Flower Drum Song. It's not a very popular Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, at least not in my circle of friends, but I happen to like it very much. But the last time I saw the movie musical was nearly a decade ago so the details were a little hazy. However, my memory of James Shigeta was pretty clear. First Japanese guy I ever had a crush on. Well, first non-animated Japanese guy I ever had a crush on (see Rurouni Kenshin). Anyway, I'm digressing.

Watching the musical again, I noticed stuff I never noticed before. Like the actress playing Linda Lowe had a funny way of dancing. Or that Mei Li (played by Miyoshi Umeki) had some funny lines.

Wang Ta invites Mei Li to dance.
Mei Li: I am afraid I do not know how to dance. But I will walk around with you while you dance.

LOL!

The day before, I was at the Park Cafe with Dennise and Marisse. Dennise was asking me about this China phone where you could watch TV and I told her that there were a lot of those sold in Cagayan de Oro. Then she asked me if that phone would work in Germany.

Now, it had been established that I know the strangest things and sometimes, I don't even have the slightest idea why I know things. I just do. But we've never discussed stuff I don't know but that night, I identified one of the things I did not know.

I have no idea if the China phone works in Germany.

Tune in next episode for more stuff I don't know.
