High School Diaries: I Know What You Did In High School

Everybody makes mistakes in high school. I've done things I'm not proud of, said things I would like to take back but still, I'm rather glad I wrote them down. Because it's always nice to remember in vivid detail how much of a dork you were in high school. Or how you haven't changed since then.

June 15, 1996
Mars and I went to Maedz's house to watch T.G.I.S.
It was this popular Pinoy TV show about teens and their insipid little love lives that we followed religiously week after week after week. And it wasn't enough for me to squeal with delight in dignified solitude at home. No, I had to go squeal at Marisse's house. Then the cable just... went out. And OMG, like Bobby was going to confess to Angelu and OMG we have to go to Maedeleine's house and watch it THERE! (Because she has a different cable company.)

August 10, 1996
Marisse and Marrion [no relation to Larrion. LOL!] were talking about a movie with oral sex in it while Paul and I listened.
Yes, we had conversations like that in high school. Don't get me wrong. We didn't sneak into the campus bathrooms for discreet blowjobs or illicit sex behind broom closets or anything. We just talked about it. A lot. The collective moral virginity of our class was completely demolished by the time we graduated.

June 19, 1997
It's my mom's birthday tomorrow and I tried to make a pillow thing for her. You know, the one with all the cut-up trash inside? Anyways, it didn't turn out right.
OMG. Cut-up trash. I am so not proud of my artsy-fartsy phase in high school. I never won awards for my creative projects, unlike Marisse and her Forrest Gump's Forest Camp board game. Suffice it to say that my mom got a birthday card that year.

March 30, 1999
We rode horses in the morning... I was having so much fun but Kris had this pathetic look on his face so I got off the horse and let him ride it. I never got to ride again.
Boys.

June 9, 1997
I led the national anthem in our Grand Assembly today and it was very embarrassing. Teacher Nene made me do it twice because the students weren't singing properly.
How do you sing the national anthem improperly? And hello, I feel like I'm the one being punished. It is rather humiliating to be standing alone on a huge stage inside a gym full of students, flailing your arms about in 4/4 tempo. And then have to do it twice.

By 4:00 pm, we left for Cosmopolitan (funeral home) to see Angela's dead grandma but when we inquired, they said she was already buried.
OMG. Talk about late.

A lot more things happened in high school that I'd rather not disclose here. I do have blog boundaries.

And for the exciting conclusion to this riveting mini series...

High School Diaries: Nerdvana

Some people are born great, some become great while others have greatness thrust upon them.

I'm pretty sure I was born a nerd.

At age 4, I stuck a key into an electric outlet. Oh, I
knew that I would get electrocuted but I felt compelled to do it. I wanted to know what it felt like to have an electric current coursing through my body. Typical of a crazy scientist.

At age 8, I discovered that my family name was actually this little town in Spain because I decided one summer that I was going to finish reading our world atlas. Who
reads an ATLAS?!

At age 12, I won 3rd (or 2
nd place, not sure) at a Science Congress for a half-assed investigatory project. It was basically a vegetable/fruit juice and when they asked what nutrients would be found in it, I just recited whatever vitamins and minerals I assumed would be in the drink. I didn't really know for sure since I didn't do any actual research.

Okay, maybe that wasn't so much
nerdiness as it was LYING. Through my teeth. But lying involves very complex neuronal interactions and a lot more thinking so there.

Anyway,
nerdically speaking, high school pretty much didn't deviate from my path to Nerdvana.

July 19, 1996
Today, we had our computer class and well, I finished early. The others didn't save last week's activity so they had to do it again.
I knew my tendency to refuse to delete anything was good for something.

November 16, 1996
We had our recollection today. It wasn't that nice... But I'd never miss it for the world. We still had fun during the BREAKS, you know!
I am such a heathen. But I was never any good at being obligated to experience God's presence.

March 25, 1997
I actually used words like INEFFABLE.
I really did. Like in normal conversation. I don't know if it amounts to being pretentious or just wanting to improve my vocabulary. Or maybe what I was talking about really was ineffable!

August 27, 1997
I made my brother's investigatory project for the entire day.
I am such a tool. But I do like making things up and making them sound all smart and factual. I actually made an investigatory project comparing the strength of red and black ants. From the methodology down to the conclusions, everything was off the internet. I can't believe whoever checked that investigatory project actually believed that my brother collected red and black ants and counted how many grains of rice they could carry x time x distance. Who's the tool now? Awesooooome.

October 30, 1998
When I get a job, I will find a tape of Flower Drum Song for sale and I will buy it.
*snerk* TAPE. *giggle* BUY. I do have that movie at home now. In my external drive. Downloaded for FREE.

May 27, 1998
Well, the major news this summer are Seinfeld's final episode, Viagra, India's nuclear tests, the Clinton Scandal (hasn't ended yet), Oscars, the guy who lost 1/2 inch of his organ having sex with a vacuum cleaner and the death of Frank Sinatra.
The fact that I consider those things major news is rather telling.

December 31, 1998
I finally spell WEIRD correctly.
Because I used to spell it WIERD. 'Coz you know, "I before E except after C." Should've qualified that to exclude WEIRD.

February 21, 1999
The boy talk was so boring that the idea of sitting in a corner doing nothing appealed to me that I did.
But seriously, I like corners. I prefer to sleep with my bed against the wall. If teachers in the Philippines dealt punishment by making me sit in a corner, I would actually be fine with it. Happy even. Does that mean I'm autistic? Because that would really explain a lot.

I still have a life. Haven't arrived at
Nerdvana yet but as evidenced above, I may have made a few stops at Geeksville and Dorkmania.

Coming to theaters near you...

High School Diaries: The Case Of The Ass

Everyone has that one person in high school that you love to hate. Mine especially enjoyed doing stuff to make me hate him all the more. Okay, maybe hate is too strong a word. But I got annoyed. A lot.

I won't deny it. I did have a crush on the guy for a time.
Everyone knew that but I'm writing it off as temporary insanity. I mean, how can you have a crush on the person and still wish he were being eaten alive by Brazilian fire ants?

For the sake of anonymity, let's refer to annoying guy under the alias of... Larrion. *grin*

July 2, 1996
Larrion told me to keep something & he told me to hold it. Then he took my hand and put a candy wrapper on my palm.
What's the age limit for juvenile?

July 22, 1996
During Values (class)... Larrion wrote on my forehead with chalk.
When I re-read this entry a month ago, I nearly choked laughing. Why did I let him write on my forehead with chalk?!

July 3, 1996
Today, he accused me of something I haven't even done. He also told me that I was always the primary suspect because I was the one who always makes fun of him.
Okay. Candy wrapper. Chalk on forehead. Res ipsa loquitur. Look it up.

June 4, 1996
Larrion asked me to bring a book for him yesterday so I brought it today. However, he told me that he didn't need the book (because he brought his own). He only told me to bring the book because if he forgot to bring, he'd borrow... from me.
Ass.

June 5, 1996
[Kathleen, Julette & I bought milk bars and then we tricked Larrion into buying us milk bars anyway.]
Larr saw us eating 2 milk bars each and he figured out that he has been had. Played for a SUCKER. Treated like a low-down IDIOT.
Who says girls can't be as devious as boys?

July 20, 1996
Jory hits Larrion in the 'nads for being an ass.
Ah, retribution.

Sweet.
