High School Diaries: I Know What You Did In High School

Everybody makes mistakes in high school. I've done things I'm not proud of, said things I would like to take back but still, I'm rather glad I wrote them down. Because it's always nice to remember in vivid detail how much of a dork you were in high school. Or how you haven't changed since then.

June 15, 1996
Mars and I went to Maedz's house to watch T.G.I.S.
It was this popular Pinoy TV show about teens and their insipid little love lives that we followed religiously week after week after week. And it wasn't enough for me to squeal with delight in dignified solitude at home. No, I had to go squeal at Marisse's house. Then the cable just... went out. And OMG, like Bobby was going to confess to Angelu and OMG we have to go to Maedeleine's house and watch it THERE! (Because she has a different cable company.)

August 10, 1996
Marisse and Marrion [no relation to Larrion. LOL!] were talking about a movie with oral sex in it while Paul and I listened.
Yes, we had conversations like that in high school. Don't get me wrong. We didn't sneak into the campus bathrooms for discreet blowjobs or illicit sex behind broom closets or anything. We just talked about it. A lot. The collective moral virginity of our class was completely demolished by the time we graduated.

June 19, 1997
It's my mom's birthday tomorrow and I tried to make a pillow thing for her. You know, the one with all the cut-up trash inside? Anyways, it didn't turn out right.
OMG. Cut-up trash. I am so not proud of my artsy-fartsy phase in high school. I never won awards for my creative projects, unlike Marisse and her Forrest Gump's Forest Camp board game. Suffice it to say that my mom got a birthday card that year.

March 30, 1999
We rode horses in the morning... I was having so much fun but Kris had this pathetic look on his face so I got off the horse and let him ride it. I never got to ride again.
Boys.

June 9, 1997
I led the national anthem in our Grand Assembly today and it was very embarrassing. Teacher Nene made me do it twice because the students weren't singing properly.
How do you sing the national anthem improperly? And hello, I feel like I'm the one being punished. It is rather humiliating to be standing alone on a huge stage inside a gym full of students, flailing your arms about in 4/4 tempo. And then have to do it twice.

By 4:00 pm, we left for Cosmopolitan (funeral home) to see Angela's dead grandma but when we inquired, they said she was already buried.
OMG. Talk about late.

A lot more things happened in high school that I'd rather not disclose here. I do have blog boundaries.

And for the exciting conclusion to this riveting mini series...

Corpusian Memories

Back in high school, I kept a diary. Old school blogging in a sense. I was reading the entries and some of them had me weeping with laughter. At one o'clock in the morning.

However, this particular one had Dennise ROTFL.

"During Values class, Marrion wrote on my forehead with chalk."

Just so you know, I don't let people write on my forehead with chalk. Marrion's just an ass. Everyone has a mortal enemy in high school. Mine just stayed with me until I passed the medical board exam. My relationship with Marrion has been entertaining my friends for years.

Speaking of high school memories, Dennise told me of this thing that happened in 2nd year Biology class that I don't remember but I think is so totally typical of me.

(Scenario: Farina is chatting with a seatmate,
not paying attention to class)

Teacher Vicky:
Farina, what's going on? Would you like to share
what you are talking about to the whole class?

Farina (the smart aleck):
I was just wondering if Alpha Centauri is brighter than the sun,
considering that it is the brightest star.

Teacher Vicky:

Uh...

I am the coolest nerd. By present standards.

Just different

We had our annual high school class Christmas Party last night. As per tradition, we went to someone's house, ate, drank and basically caught up with each other's lives. Now, catching up with my classmates is
always a learning experience.

Here are a few additions to my stock of useless information.

Searching "find Chuck Norris" on Google and hitting I'm Feeling Lucky. This is care of Rolando Bloom. Go ahead. Click it.

I may have been around Dennise for the past few months but last night was the first time she mentioned this to me.

And it's not seen in the image but this cracked me up:
Dec.24, 1984 - Santa Claus fulfills prophecy as he dies for the sins of mankind, to give man eternal presents

And another one from Rolando.

I know I'm a fanatic over things I'm, uh, fanatic about but I just don't see myself to that extreme. Or maybe it's just coz I'm no longer in my teens. Or that I don't really care about American Idol. Or that if I were being at all fanaticky, I would be alone. Or my friends would be in the sidelines, mocking me.

Point of the blog? It's not that my high school classmates and I are retards interested in lame things. We're just a different kind of smart.
